The Perfect Margarita
In the coming weeks, A Shot Above Entertainment, Inc. will be posting recipes for classic and wild cocktails. This week, we've decided to open with the perfect margarita.
The perfect margarita is made with silver tequila, as the flavor is enhanced by the youth of the agave. As tequila ages, it mellows and becomes more likely to take on the characteristics of the barrel it is being aged in, and although this makes for an amazing sipping tequila, it doesn't do anything to enhance a margarita.
Here is our recipe:
· 1-1/2 oz. silver tequila
· 1 oz. Cointreau
· 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
· splash simple syrup
· salted rim
Mix all of these ingredients into a shaker, and strain into a glass. This allows you to enjoy an ice cold margarita without losing the flavor to melting ice along the way. This goes with blending as well. If you blend your margarita, the ice eventually melts and you lose the flavor; no one enjoys watered down anything.
To up the wow factor, float a little Gran Marnier on the top, or add a little into the recipe. This makes for a stronger Cadillac Margarita.
Cheers!
